Chemical oscillation has been studied using gallic acid and varying am
ounts of acetone as the mixed organic substrate both visually and pote
ntiometrically side by side by the batch method. Ce-IV ions have been
used as catalyst and sulphuric acid as the medium. The results have be
en compared with those obtained earlier in perchloric acid and sulphur
ic acid media using ferroin as catalyst. Studies have also been made t
o judge the relative efficiency of ferroin and Ce-IV ions as catalyst
with single and mixed organic substrate.
