A. Pal et al., DETERMINATION OF ALUMINUM IN WATER THROUGH FORMATION OF FLUORESCENT DIBENZOYLMETHANE-ALUMINUM COMPLEX AND ITS STRUCTURE ELUCIDATION, Journal of the Indian Chemical Society, 75(2), 1998, pp. 78-80
Dibenzoylmethane (DBM) was found to be a very good reagent for Al-III
to produce a luminescent complex having the formula AI(DBM)(3). The lu
minescence property of the complex was used to selectively quantify Al
-III on filter paper substrate in the range of 5-55 ppm. The method wa
s successfully applied to water analysis and is devoid of interference
s from common anions and cations.
