Gb. Palermo et al., PLEA BARGAINING - INJUSTICE FOR ALL, International journal of offender therapy and comparative criminology, 42(2), 1998, pp. 111-123
The authors, professionals active in the legal system take into consid
eration the pros and cons of plea bargaining in criminal offenses. The
y give a brief review of the historical development of plea bargaining
in the United States and contrasting views regarding it. They questio
n whether even though customary it may at times be seen as unfair infr
inging on the legal ethics of the justice system and thus as unjust fo
r the various players. They conclude by recognizing that in view of an
overburdened legal system, plea bargaining is here to stay.
