H. Krami et al., THE GASTRIC LEIOMYOSARCOMAS - REPORT OF 6 CASES WITH REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE, Annales de Gastroenterologie et d'Hepatologie, 34(1), 1998, pp. 35-39
The gastric leiomyosarcoma is a malignant mesenchymatous tumor which o
riginates from the mucous muscular and which develop mainly in extramu
cosa. It is a very incommon tumor sivice, the clinical symptomatology
is very polymorphic, it depends the size of the tumor and its endo ou
exogastric course. The fibroscopy, echotomography and scan are aften i
nsufficient to diagnose the gastric leiomyosarcoma. The echoendoscopy
allows to know localization submucosa of the lesion; the cytopuncture
provides the histological confirmation. The therapeutical management o
f leiomyosarcome is mainly surgical a partial or total gastrectomy can
be performed according of the tumoral lesion. The chemiotherapy and t
he radiotherapy have not given proof of their efficiency to manage lei
omyosarcoma. Evolution of leiomyosarcoma is slow ant un forescable. Me
tastasis and local recurences can occur thas indicates importance of a
regular following up of the patients who underuvent surgery. Leter th
e prognosis of the gastric leiomyosarcoma is better than that of adeno
carcinoma. It depends of more the tumoral size, presence or absence of
metastasis and lastly of the histologic aspect.
