L. Jabri et al., PRIMARY ANORECTAL MALIGNANT-MELANOMA - RE PORT OF A CASE AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE, Annales de Gastroenterologie et d'Hepatologie, 34(1), 1998, pp. 40-43
A 50-year old man developed a nonpigmented malignant melanoma in the a
norectal area. The diagnosis was established by a biopsy. The histolog
ic diagnosis oi this highly malignant tumor can be difficult in nonpig
mented forms, and can benefit from the use oi PS 100 and HMB 45 as imm
unological markers. Although surgery is the mainstay oi management, th
e best method is not agreed on, and the prognosis seems more closely d
ependent on the stage ct the disease than on the type ct surgical proc
edure performed. The role of radiation therapy and chemotherapy needs
to he evaluated.
