Abstract
This article discusses the evolution of service delivery for people wi th developmental disabilities from the medical model to the developmen tal model to the current support model. Today's service delivery parad igm has changed the conceptualization of consumers, service intent, an d the role of professionals. In this context, the author examines the role of social work practice, education, and research in service provi sion for for people with developmental disabilities.
