The regeneration of activated carbon and hypercrosslinked polymers loa
ded with simazine, chlorotoluron, isoproturon, atrazine and diuron usi
ng low-temperature solvent stripping has been investigated. Pure ethan
ol, azeotropic ethanol acetone, methanol and 1-propanol will efficient
ly regenerate polymeric Hypersol-Macronet(TM) MN-200 at room temperatu
re. Complete regeneration was achieved using about three bed volumes o
f HPLC grade ethanol when operated in a mini-column. Excess ethanol is
efficiently water washed prior to reuse. Chemviron F-400 is not effec
tively regenerated using low-temperature solvent stripping. The advant
ages of polymeric adsorbents are discussed.
