E. Lorenzo et al., ANALYTICAL STRATEGIES FOR AMPEROMETRIC BIOSENSORS BASED ON CHEMICALLY-MODIFIED ELECTRODES, Biosensors & bioelectronics, 13(3-4), 1998, pp. 319-332
Various strategies based on the use of chemically modified electrodes
for the development of amperometric biosensors are described, particul
ar emphasis is placed on materials capable of catalyzing the oxidation
of NADH and coupling these with enzymatic activities for biosensor co
nstruction. In terms of electrocatalysts, the discussion will centre o
n electrodeposited films of 3,4-dihydroxy benzaldehyde (3,4-DHB) and r
elated analogs as well as on electrodeposited films of transition meta
l complexes of 1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione (phen-dione). Electrodepo
sited films of these materials have been coupled to the enzymatic acti
vity of aldehyde dehydrogenase and alcohol dehydrogenase for the devel
opment of biosensors for aldehydes and ethanol, respectively. (C) 1998
