The quenching rate constants of CH(A(2) Delta) radicals by alcohol, al
kane, O-2, and C2H4 molecules over the temperature range 297-653 K hav
e been measured using laser photolysis of CHBr3 at 266 nm to produce C
H(A) radical and time-resolved fluorescence measurements. Under the si
multaneous effects of multiple attractive potentials and repulsive bar
rier, the temperature dependence of the quenching process of CH(A(2) D
elta) is discussed qualitatively based on a modified collision complex
model. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
