Abstract
Transcatheter embolization has proved to be an effective treatment for patients presenting with pelvic haemorrhage. Superselective catheteri zation with microcatheters facilitates the approach to the bleeding ve ssel and enables safer and more effective embolization. A 45-year-old man was admitted to hospital after blunt trauma to the left gluteal re gion. He complained of a painful enlarging mass in the left gluteal re gion. Radiography of the pelvis revealed absence of fracture. Selectiv e angiography displayed significant extravasation from the left superi or gluteal artery. Embolization was performed. The patient was dischar ged 2 days after admission with a resolving left gluteal haematoma.
