Cm. Galosi et al., DIVERSITY OF GENOMIC ELECTROPHEROTYPES OF NATURALLY-OCCURRING EQUINE HERPESVIRUS-1 ISOLATES IN ARGENTINA, Brazilian journal of medical and biological research, 31(6), 1998, pp. 771-774
The genomes of 10 equine herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1) strains isolated in Arg
entina from 1979 to 1991, and a Japanese HI-Il reference strain were c
ompared by restriction endonuclease analysis. Two restriction enzymes,
BamHI and Bg/II were used and analysis of the electropherotypes did no
t show significant differences among isolates obtained from horses wit
h different clinical signs. This suggests that the EHV-1 isolates stud
ied, which circulated in Argentina for more than 10 years, belong to a
single genotype.
