Abstract
Lithium azidohydridodiisobutylaluminate (1), prepared as a solution in THF from DIBAH and lithium azide at rt, transfers the azide rather th an the hydride to the unsymmetrical epoxides regioselectively to produ ce vic-azidoalcohols in high yields.
