Abstract
The glucosides of simple fatty alcohols like n-octanol, n-triacontanol and benzyl alcohol as well as of cholesterol have been synthesised in very good yields (70-85 %) by reading acetobromoglucose with zinc sal ts of the substrates, prepared in situ, and then deacetylating the glu coside peracetate. It is possible to obtain either of the anomers (alp ha or beta) selectively, by choosing appropriate reaction conditions.
