Based on the Hard-Sphere Approximation applied to colloidal particles
in strong repulsive interaction, a model is proposed for the zero shea
r viscosity of concentrated (colloidal) suspensions, which takes accou
nt of phase transitions in HS systems. A good agreement is observed be
tween this model and viscosity data on silica and Inter suspensions.
