COPPER(II), NICKEL(II), ZINC(II) AND COBALT(III) COMPLEXES OF C-MESO-5, L-7,14-DIMETHYL-TETRA-AZACYCLOTETRADECA-4,11-DIENE (C-MESO-ME2ET2[14]DIENEN(4))

The dihydroperchlorate salt of the tetra-aza macrocycle l-7,14-dimethy l-tetra-azacyclotetradeca-4,11-diene (L) has been prepared by the reac tion of ethylenediamine monohydroperchlorate with 4-hexen-3-one in met hanol solution. A variety of trans-[CoLX2](+) complexes (X = Cl-, Br-, NCS-, N-3(-), OAc- and NO2-) have been prepared and characterised as their perchlorate salts. Infrared and visible spectra are reported.
