ORGANOTIN CONCENTRATIONS IN BREST NAVAL P ORT, IN 1993 AND 1994

As part of an assessment of the French Navy's involvement in TBT rejec tions, the distribution of butyltins in the Naval Port was studied in 1993 and 1994. The concentrations of MET, DBT and TBT in 1994 were les s than in 1993. TBT concentrations showed seasonal variations and were maximum in summer. These changes cannot be accounted for by a leachin g from freshly repainted hulls. Berthing of naval ships is the main so urce of TBT contamination in Naval Port waters.
