0The first structural characterization of an organolead phosphinodithi
oate is reported. According to an X-ray diffraction study, the title c
ompound triphenyllead(IV) dimethylphosphinodithioate, (1)(x)[Ph3PbS2PM
e2], forms a linear polymer in the solid state. Supramolecular associa
tion through secondary bonds of the type P=S ... Pb leads to a polymer
ic chain formed by -Pb-S-P=S ... Pb- units. The inorganic backbone is
wrapped in a lipophilic ''hose'' made up of methyl and phenyl groups.
