Abstract
The structure of CrBr2 . 6(py) (py = pyridine) consists of a Cr atom a t the intersection of three 2-fold axes in the space group Ccca. The C r is coordinated to 4 N atoms of py ligands [Cr Angstrom N distances o f 2.135(4) and 2.164(5) Angstrom] and interacts weakly with 2 Br ions [Cr-Br distance 2.998(1) Angstrom] giving the CrN4Br2 unit D-2h symmet ry. There are two py molecules per Cr centre trapped in the lattice. ( C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
