Abstract
The new semi-rigid diimine ligand, OpyNpy(2), coordinates the toxic he avy metals ions Cd(II) and Hg(II) in a monohelical fashion, as establi shed, in the former, by X-ray crystallography and, in both, by H-1 NMR spectroscopy; ligand control is attributed to the helical topology of these complexes of stereochemically non-demanding ions.
