Abstract
A new handover algorithms suitable for implementation in modern cellul ar mobile radio systems, such as GSM or UMTs, is proposed and its perf ormance assessed. The algorithm is based on the gradient of measured p ower values. Both the uplink and the downlink measurements are conside red. The simulation results show a performance improvements with respe ct to traditional algorithms.
