Abstract
If the knowledge field is to move forward, there are-from a business p erspective-three priority areas for further research and experimentati on. They are: research on how tacit knowledge can continue to be ''tap ped into and utilized'' despite increasing economic and business force s that are disrupting the social nature of the workplace community whe re tacit knowledge lives and thrives; research on how to optimally str ucture knowledge flow between knowledge seekers and knowledge provider s to maximize the impact of knowledge; and research on how to make kno wledge, which by its nature is fuzzy and intangible, visible and concr ete. Progress in each of these three areas would significantly contrib ute to making the relationship between knowledge and the firm a signif icant business reality.
