Abstract
A 16-kDa protein, identical to the a-crystallin-like stress protein, w as induced under O-2-deficient culture conditions and bound principall y to the 30S ribosomal subunits of Mycobacterium bovis BCG substrain T okyo (BCG). The 16-kDa protein was shown to be tightly associated with the ribosome.
