Abstract
We report the atypical presentation of acute acalculous cholecystitis in fo ur young, otherwise healthy patients. These cases emphasize the fact that t he traditional concept of this disease as being associated with trauma, maj or surgery, or other pathology may no longer be true, and an important numb er of cases may appear de novo in patients without any predisposing factors .
