DETERMINATION OF ORGANOCHLORINE COMPOUNDS IN ANION-EXCHANGE RESINS BYUV IRRADIATION AND ION CHROMATOGRAPHY

Anion-exchange resins may release organochlorine compounds during the demineralization of water in make-up plants. These substances can be d ecomposed by exposure to UV irradiation into chloride salts which can subsequently be determined by ion chromatography. The experimental con ditions in the above method were studied and optimized. In addition, t he method was validated using some organochlorine compounds of known s tructure. Finally, the method was applied to the determination of leac hable organochlorine compounds in samples of anion-exchange resins.
