The stability of gain-frequency responses of LC-filters is defined via the
cumulative and quadratic cumulative sensitivity functions. We study these t
wo indices for the widely used Chebyshev and Cauer fillers. Based on the nu
merical analysis, we show that the smaller the passband ripple and the guar
anteed attenuation in the stopband of a reactive filter, the higher the sta
bility of characteristics of the filter. Cauer's filters possess better sta
bility as compared to Chebyshev's filters, all factors being equal. The inf
luence of operating conditions of a filter as well as losses in its element
s on stability indices is studied. Recommendations are proposed for ensurin
g a specified stability of the gain-frequency response when choosing a filt
ering circuit.
