Abstract
The distribution of alkaloids derived from tyrosine and anthranilic acid in the Angiospermae is discussed. Their role in the development of chemotaxon omic concepts in the subclasses: Magnoliiflorae, Ranunculiflorae, Caryophyl liflorae and Rutiflorae sensu Dahlgren has been reviewed with particular re ference to the contributions of Professor Robert Hegnauer.
