Abstract
cDNAs specifying four active phosphoribosyl diphosphate synthase isozymes w ere isolated from an Arabidopsis thaliana cDNA library. In contrast to othe r phosphoribosyl diphosphate synthases the activity of two of the A. thalia na isozymes are independent of P-i. Amino acid sequence comparison and phyl ogenetic analysis indicate that these two isozymes belong to a novel class of phosphoribosyl diphosphate synthases, (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
