Abstract
It is demonstrated that a solution of dichloroacetic acid in toluene remove s dimethoxytrityl groups from the 5'-terminus of an antisense phosphorothio ate oligodeoxyribonucleotide (ISIS 5132/CGP69846A) during synthesis on soli d support cleanly and efficiently. It is therefore suggested to replace hea lth hazardous dichloromethane which is typically used in oligonucleotide sy nthesis as solvent for DMTr-removal by toluene. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science L td.
