Abstract
In a hospital-based case-control study including women and men with angiogr aphically documented coronary artery disease (CAD) admitted to a university hospital during a 6-month period, we observed an excessive hereditary pred isposition in women. Clustering of risk factors was more pronounced in wome n than in men. Thus, the results suggest that hereditary factors as well as multiple risk factors are essential when CAD is expressed in women.
