A polymerizable methacrylic surfactant is synthetized from methacryloy
l chloride and 11-bromoundecanol. The obtained cationic monomer is tel
omerized with a fluorinated thiol, and the transfer constant C(T) is c
alculated. This value is in the same range as transfer constants of cl
assical methacrylic monomers. The obtained k(p)2/k(T) is low because o
f the long chain ester. Polymers were prepared in homogeneous solution
with an average molecular weight of 25000.
