U. Lang et al., PERSPECTIVES OF COLLABORATIVE SUPERCOMPUTING AND NETWORKING IN EUROPEAN AEROSPACE RESEARCH AND INDUSTRY, Future generations computer systems, 11(4-5), 1995, pp. 419-430
For some years European aerospace industry and research pursue the ide
a of an 'EASNET'-a European Aeronautical Supercomputing Network. Withi
n this context, the project RACE 2031 PAGEIN 'Pilot Applications in a
Gigabit European Integrated Network' collected a major part of Europea
n aerospace research, some manufacturers and two universities. In the
following paper on industry oriented activities the benefits of the ne
w network based concepts and working modes are evaluated with new indu
strial partners. PAGEIN's application environment comprises elements s
uch as supercomputers of different architectures, simulations in compu
tational fluid dynamics (CFD), scientific visualization and cooperativ
e working scenarios including voice and video-to be demonstrated in a
high-speed network environment. In the following the content of multip
le presentations given during the PAGEIN session of the HPCN'94 confer
ence are combined (see [1-6]). Also an update is given on the state of
the project.
