The double diffusive effect of ferro thermohaline convective instability in
a ferro fluid, saturating a rotating porous medium heated from below and s
alted from above, has been studied using Brinkman and Darcy models. The eff
ect of salinity has been incorporated in the magnetization and density of t
he ferro fluid. Linear stability analysis is carried out. The onset of ther
mohaline convection is analysed both by stationary as well as oscillatory m
odes. In all cases it is found that the porous medium of small permeability
and large rotation tend to stabilize the system. It has been observed that
stationary mode is favourable for Darcy model whereas for Brinkman model,
possibility of oscillatory mode of instability cannot be ruled out. It is a
lso found that the ratio of mass transport to heat transport decides the st
abilizing factor. Numerical computations are made and are illustrated graph
ically.
