Abstract
Although flight deck automation has been well received by pilots and by the aviation industry, many automation human factors issues have been raised. In this study, we surveyed a wide variety of sources, including pilots and other aviation experts; accident reports; incident reports; documentation o n other studies of incident reports; and documentation on experiments, surv eys, and other studies to identify and compile evidence related to 92 fligh t deck automation issues. We created a World Wide Web site (http://flightde ck.ie.orst.edu/) to make this information available to the aviation researc h, development, manufacturing, operational, and regulatory communities.
