The pressure effect on magnetic properties of amorphous rare-earth based al
loys and their hydrides was investigated for the temperatures close to phas
e transition to spin glass like state point. It was established that the pr
essure decreases the temperature of transition, otherwise hydriding makes t
he temperature higher. Experimental results are explained by means of stron
g dependence of exchange integrals on interatomic distances. (C) 1999 Inter
