The O-2 stretching vibration of O-2 adsorbed by vapour-deposited amorp
hous solid water, after crystallization of amorphous to cubic ice, and
after formation of oxygen clathrate hydrate, has been studied by Rama
n spectroscopy: its peak maximum is shifted increasingly to lower freq
uency and evidence is given that only the large cages of the clathrate
hydrate structure are occupied by O-2 molecules.
