J. Machalski et D. Engels, 1308- A NEW HIGHLY VARIABLE EXTRAGALACTIC OBJECT(328 ), Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 266(4), 1994, pp. 69-72
A new highly variable (in both the radio and optical domains) extragal
actic object has been found 14.4 arcmin from the known BL Lac object 1
308 + 326. Its radio spectrum peaks at about 20-40 GHz, and is strongl
y self-absorbed at lower frequencies. In fact, the source is very comp
act, with an angular size of less than 0.03 arcsec. Its optical counte
rpart is stellar, and varies in the range 3-3.5 mag. A low-resolution
optical spectrum shows emission lines, and suggests a quasar with a re
dshift of about 1.65.
