Ultrasonic velocities, v(s), in liquid CdxTe1-x alloys (x=0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.
25, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, 0.9, 1.0) have been measured in the range
from liquidus temperature to 1200 degrees C under the saturated vapour pre
ssure of Cd and Te. The isotherms of v(s) show have an inflection at 50 at.
% of Te corresponding to the CdTe solid compound. Results indicate the bond
ing in the Cd-Te system changes at 50 at.% Te. Discussion is also given on
supercooling temperatures as compared with an optimized liquidus line propo
