Abstract
Only a small number of clear cell sarcoma (CCS) cell lines have been report ed, including the cell line HS-MM. In the present study this cell line, mai ntained for more than 4 years since establishment, was further characterize d by cytogenetic studies, fluorescence irt situ hybridization (FISH) analys is, and reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). HS-MM cel ls both ill vitro and in vivo exhibited pseudodiploid karyotypes with the s pecific t(12;22)(q13;q12) translocation. The translocation between chromoso mes 12 and 22 mas confirmed by FISH analysis and the hybrid EWS/ATF-1 trans cript induced by this translocation was detected by RT-PCR.
