Abstract
Pseudo-first-order rate constants (k(obs)) for the reaction of piperidine w ith phthalimide vary linearly with the total concentration of piperidine ([ Pip](T)) at a constant content of CH3CN in H2O-CH3CN solvents within the CH 3CN content range 2-80 % (v/v). The change in k(obs), with the change in [P ip](T) at 100% (v/v) CH3CN obeys the relationship k(obs) = Psi [Pip](T)(2)/ (1 + Phi [Pip](T)). Copyright (C) 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
