Abstract
The study on equation of states and pressure dependence of the phonon frequ encies of TmTe compound have been performed by using a simple interatomic p otential approach in the frame work of the rigid ion model. The compressibi lity study confirms that below 2 GPa valence of the Tm is (2+) while above 2 GPa there is a transition from Tm2+ to Tm3+. The phonon frequencies of Tm Te increases as pressure is increased. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All r ights reserved.
