Tritium concentrations in rain collected at Fukuoka, Japan from 1982 have b
een measured. From May 1996 tritium concentrations and chemical species hav
e been analyzed for each rain to examine their relationship. Recent rain wa
s concluded not to be affected by tritium from atmospheric nuclear tests. T
ritium concentrations showed a seasonal pattern, high during winter and spr
ing and low during summer and fall and had positive correlations with non-s
ea-salt SO42-, indicating a long distance transport of acidic materials as
well as tritium from continental China.
