Abstract
A study of the Ho3+ 2-mu m laser emission in Gd3Ga5O12 using Yb3+ and Tm3+ ions as sensitizers is presented. We show by quantum-yield measur ements that up-conversion energy losses are weak in the triply doped c rystal. Models that describe the excited-state dynamics for both up- a nd down-conversion processes are given.
