Abstract
The present letter concerns a class of antennas dedicated to multimode syst ems. A patch antenna is used to cover a 2 GHz frequency band with linear po larization, and a dipole type is used to cover a terrestrial link at 900 MH z. The merged configuration is integrated within 20 mm x 20 mm and shows no interaction between the two antennas. The patch offers a zenithal coverage with 5 dB gain and a matching of 30 dB, and the dipole has a classic radia tion pattern and matching characteristics. (C) 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
