Photometric and spectroscopic observations of HD 183133 indicate that
it is a new Be interacting binary system. A Fourier analysis of the li
ght curve shows that the period of the system is 48.08 d, with an ampl
itude of only 0.028 mag. High-resolution H alpha spectroscopy shows li
ne-profile changes on the same time-scale as the photometric variation
s. There is some variation in behaviour from cycle to cycle at the O.O
1-mag level in the photometry and in the line-profile variations. Ther
e is no indication that the system is eclipsing.
