Abstract
Treatment of 2,4,6,8,10,12-hexabenzyl-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaazatetracyclo[5.5.0 .0(5,9).0(3,11)]dodecane (1) with n-butyl nitrite or ammonium cerium nitrat e results in novel C(1)-C(7) oxidative cleavage to give 1,3,4,5,7,8-hexaben zyl-cis-cisoid-cis-hexahydro-1H,5H-diimidazolinium[4,5-b:4',5'-e]pyrazine d initrate (2).
