Polarized broad He I and Paschen lines in NGC 1068

Abstract
We present J-band spectropolarimetry of NGC 1068. We observe polarized broa d Pa beta and, for the first time, polarized broad Pa gamma and He I. Assum ing electron scattering as the polarization mechanism, the polarized broad lines suffer little or no extinction. All the polarized broad lines are red shifted with respect to the narrow lines, attributed to an outflow velocity for the scatterers of 900 +/- 200 km s(-1).
