S. Valkai et al., Volumetric data from light scattering and perturbation theory for carbon tetrachloride, chloroform and dichloromethane, PCCP PHYS C, 1(4), 1999, pp. 691-695
The ratio of isothermal compressibility to the square of isobaric expansivi
ty (kappa(T)/alpha(p)(2)) was determined via Rayleigh light scattering expe
riments for liquid carbon tetrachloride, chloroform and dichloromethane as
a function of temperature. This ratio was also calculated by means of renor
malized perturbation theory (in the case of polar molecules) and by the use
of Johnson-Zollweg-Gubbins equation of state (in the case of carbon tetrac
hloride), respectively. The data coming from light scattering show reasonab
le agreement with those from theoretical calculations and from volumetric e
xperiments given in the literature.
