We present measurements of the thermal conductivity of polycrystalline Pr2C
u1-xZnxO4 (0 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 0.02) in the tem
perature range 6-300 K. The thermal conductivity is found to increase with
Zn substitution up to x = 0.005 but to decrease with Zn concentration when
x > 0.005. This behaviour is attributed to the strong interaction of phonon
s with spin excitations. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved
