Abstract
A [2]pseudorotaxane, built up from a macrocyclic cyclophane containing two aromatic pi-accepters and an acyclic molecule containing three ar omatic pi-donors, has the ability to undergo self-organisation on crys tallisation to form a layered superstructure of arrayed [2]pseudorotax anes.
