Yh. Xu et al., Preparation and characterization of polyoxetane resins anchoring the pendant spacer-separated hydroxamic acid residue, POLYM J, 31(2), 1999, pp. 143-149
Polyoxetane resins, IVa and IVb, anchoring the hydroxamic acid residue were
prepared with high degree of functionality (DF) by polymer reactions from
aliphatic NH, groups at pendant spacer-ends of IIa and Ilb. The pendant hyd
roxamic acids adsorbed Cu(Ir) ions from aqueous solution of Cu(II) acetate
at pH 6 to show capacity beyond that calculated for the ordinary Cu(II)-com
plex chelated with the two pendant ligands, probably due to the formation o
f uncompleted chelate structures. The corresponding aromatic NH, groups of
IIe and III showed very low DF in the same polymer reactions. At pH 6, amin
es of IIe and IId adsorbed Cu(II) ions to a certain extent, although those
of IIa and Ilb could adsorb no Cu(II) ions. A soft, expansible polyoxetane
network, as a supporting matrix, may importantly affect Cu(II)-adsorption a
t high capacity.
